Albuquerque, New Mexico (October 24, 2022) – In recognition of Veteran’s Day, Planet Fitness Franchise Group ECP-PF Holdings recently announced that veterans and active-duty military personnel can exercise for free at select Arizona clubs from November 1-15. Former and current military members can also sign up for a Planet Fitness membership for $0 down with no commitment and first month free through November 30.
“Planet Fitness is incredibly thankful for the servicemembers who have dedicated their time to serving in the U.S. military,” said Mike Shapiro, Vice President of Operations for ECP-PF, a franchisee division of Planet Fitness. “The wide-ranging physical and mental benefits of exercise are essential for a person’s health and wellbeing, and we hope this small token of appreciation will help veterans, and those who are active-duty, achieve their health and fitness goals.”
While military service can present physical challenges to those who have served, mental health struggles are often more prevalent among servicemembers. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, research suggests that about 11-20% of veterans experience PTSD in a given year. Additionally, deaths by suicide among military service members and veterans increased by 25% in 2020.
Research shows that physical activity produces many immediate and long-term benefits for a person’s mental health. These include better sleep, reduced anxiety, and stronger brain health. According to Harvard Medical School, exercise can also act as a natural resource to help fight depression symptoms in adults.
During November, Arizona veterans and active-duty military personnel can take advantage of the special membership offer by signing up and showing their military I.D. at participating Planet Fitness locations. For additional information about Planet Fitness, visit www.planetfitness.com.
