Westborough Crunch Gym Closes Suddenly – Patch

WESTBOROUGH, MA — The Westborough Crunch Fitness gym closed abruptly last week, leaving many members wondering what would become of their memberships, some of which were paid for on an annual basis.
Crunch did not respond to a request for comment from Patch, but a representative from a Crunch gym in Worcester said all Westborough memberships have been converted to the “peak” level. That means members can use any Crunch gym in the nation. Former Westborough members can also call any Crunch location to cancel a membership.
Crunch has nine locations in Massachusetts, including two in Worcester, plus gyms in Hudson and Fitchburg.
Other nearby gyms were offering discounts to lure former Westborough Crunch users.
The Westborough Tennis and Swim Club was offering a free two-week trial membership to former Westborough Crunch members. The local chain Encompass Fitness — with locations in Marlborough and Ashland — was offering a discount for transfers.
“Are you a former Crunch Fitness member from Westborough? Join today and get 30% off!” the Marlborough Encompass gym said in a Facebook post on June 15.
The Westborough Crunch gym opened in February 2019 and was independently owned.
