Florida-based boutique fitness franchise Orangetheory Fitness is getting ready to open a location at 7716 Richmond Hwy. in Mount Vernon Plaza.
The business was founded in 2010 and since then has expanded to 1,400 locations and counting across the globe. There are currently five studios in the Alexandria area in Potomac Yards (650 Potomac Ave.), Carlyle (2381 Eisenhower Ave.), Old Town (1101 King St.), Bradlee Shopping Center (3624 King St.) and Kingstowne (5900 Kingstowne Ctr., #100).
Orangetheory Fitness describes itself as a combination of science, coaching and technology to help members reach their fitness goals. The hour-long group classes focus on the heartrate for a full-body high-intensity interval training (HITT) workout. The classes incorporate treadmills, rowing machines and weight training.
Mount Vernon Plaza has seen an influx of new tenants recently like Java Loco and Della J’s as businesses like Payless Shoes and Ruby Tuesday have closed.
An opening date for the new Orangetheory location off Richmond Highway has not been announced but the studio is offering special founding member rates for those interested in becoming members. Find out more at the studio’s webpage or on Facebook or Instagram @otfmtvernon.
