Delayed or have extra time on your hands at Philadelphia International Airport? An option to burn some calories while you wait is on the way.
Roam Fitness plans to open an airport gym and shower facility at PHL near Terminal F in winter 2023. The space will feature 1,500 square feet of cardio equipment, free weights and a cable system, connected fitness machines with on-demand and live classes, stretching space with yoga mats and props, an infrared sauna, and private shower rooms with towel service.
The post-security gym can be accessed with a $25 day pass or annual membership. Lululemon athletic apparel and Brooks running shoes will be available at no cost. For travelers who prefer to purchase new gear, Roam will offer a selection of Lululemon, Girlfriend Collective and Rhone apparel. For those working out in their own gear, Roam will vacuum seal clothes so odors don’t permeate carry-on items.
The infrared sauna or private shower rooms can be reserved by travelers when they check in at the front desk to help ensure they make it to their gates on time. Annual members can reserve a shower or sauna 24 hours in advance. An annual membership costs $420.
Flight information display boards will be located in the space.
Roam currently operates a single gym at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The company lists more than 70 planned airport locations on its website, including in Denver, Miami, Hong Kong and Toronto.
Roam opened the BWI gym in 2017 and co-founder Ty Manegold said the company has since been “fine-tuning” its service.
“Philly’s large presence in the Mid-Atlantic and New England markets and its being a hub for American Airlines make it a great location for our second wellness center, allowing us to expand the value of our health club offering to the community at large,” Manegold said in a statement.
Roam will join more than 170 eateries, retail shops and service options at PHL.
