Travellers with a passion for the finer things can now extend that same approach to their car hire, with a premium stable of supercars – including the Lamborghini Huracan and McLaren 570S – now available from newly-launched Avis Prestige
From today, Avis customers in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast can step behind the leather-clad steering wheel of some of the world’s greatest feats of automotive engineering.
Vehicles are limited and will vary between locations, but, in addition to those mentioned above, will include the likes of the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Ferrari 488, and Audi R8 V10, as well as the Maserati GranTurismo and Bentley Continental GT.
Avis Prestige is designed to complement Avis’ existing local premium car hire offering, Avis Signature Series, which gives drivers access to a range of Mercedes and BMW vehicles.
It’s also the second luxury rental service to debut on Australian shores this year, following the arrival of Porsche Drive Rental, already a huge hit internationally, back in February.
Tom Mooney, Managing Director of Avis Australia says, “As a trusted brand in the car rental industry, we wanted to provide our customers with even greater choice, and access to some of the most desirable cars in Australia, which is why we’ve launched Avis Prestige.”
“Our goal at Avis is to always be driven by better. Avis Prestige will make the luxury car market more accessible for customers and give them the opportunity to hire a special vehicle for major milestone celebrations or for an elevated weekend away.”
Offered in partnership with Prestige Rentals, who will manage the end-to-end experience, each Avis Prestige hire includes delivery and pick up of the car from a customer’s chosen location.
As expected, there are a couple of age limits though. Those hoping to slide into a prestige car will need to be aged 25 years and over, while supercar renters will need to be 30 and above.
A security bond ranging between $5,000 and $15,000 will also be payable on pick-up.
Australia has seen huge demand for hire vehicles in recent years, particularly among domestic tourists taking advantage of closed borders and exploring more of our own backyard.

I have used Avis Prestige in the UK many times and it is a great service including meet and greet at major airports, and the prices are usually very reasonable. Hope they don’t go over the top here with unrealistic pricing.

I hope it works. The best I have got from any rental car company to date are either Corolla’s or Astra’s which are fine as runabouts or as an alternative to public transport but anything to have some prestige is most welcome.
