The 24/7 fitness gym Workout Anytime opened its fourth Triad location last week.
The Atlanta-based fitness center chain opened in Mount Airy at 639 W Independence Blvd. Workout Anytime opened locations in 2011 in Greensboro, in 2014 in Winston-Salem and a year later in Asheboro.
Local franchise owner and fitness connoisseur Chris Grove has six locations open in North Carolina and South Carolina, and the Workout Anytime company has just under 200 locations internationally.
“We’ve been looking at Mount Airy for quite some time. We did love the area, and then we just saw the need for our model in the area,” Grove said.
The location is the second-largest location by square footage in the Workout Anytime network at just under 12,000 square feet. That made the project a pricey one.
“It was a big investment,” Grove told TBJ. “I mean, we had about a million-dollar investment to get that thing up and running. … As far as equipment goes, you got over half a million dollars worth of brand new equipment for the customers to take advantage of.”
The gym is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week for members to access with their Workout Anytime key fob. Plans currently are $29.99 and include access to unlimited training, hydro massages, human touch massages, saunas, unlimited tanning, cardio, free weights and machine usage.
The company hopes to expand further into the Triad region with plans for new locations opening soon.
“I’m looking all over the Triad, all over North Carolina, South Carolina. I’m trying two get more locations open this year,” Grove said.
Founders John Quattrocchi and Steve Strickland began the gym chain in the early 1970s in Douglasville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. The mission of the chain is to provide a convenient fitness experience in a neighborhood atmosphere, according to its website.
“The support that we get from headquarters as a franchise, it’s pretty unbelievable as far as franchising goes. We just enjoy the model, the brand and we love helping people,” Grove said.
